Upgrade your engine with do88's pressure pipes for the B58 Gen 2, found in the BMW M340i and more!

The B58 Gen 2 engine is great, but its pressure pipes are a known problem. This pipe is notorious for being poor quality and can break even on an original car during track driving. If you intend to tune your car, we strongly recommend upgrading the pressure pipe first.

There are many aftermarket pressure pipes for the B58 engine on the market, but in our opinion, most are not properly designed. Most competitors have made a very simple design where the lower and upper pressure pipes are connected with a straight reducing silicone hose. It is obvious that they have not understood that this hose connection needs to be a little flexible to be able to take the thermal movement in between the pipes. This common design will most likely cause problems with the hose slipping off the hose connections as it does not allow for movement from the temperature changes. A natural solution to this problem is for people to tighten the hose clamps, but this will in most cases destroy and deform the hose connection on the pipe, rendering the pipes unusable.

But we have chosen a different solution for do88. It was clear to us that the system needs a flexible connection between the lower and upper pressure pipes that can handle the thermal movement. Our solution is a 3-braced aramid-reinforced silicone hose. Our hose design allows movement in all directions without kinking or stressing the hose connections. To further improve durability, both tubes have CNC machined 6063 hose connection ends with a wall thickness of 3mm. These hose connections will not deform even for over-tightened hose clamps.

Our pressure pipes not only solve the durability problem, but of course also improve performance. We designed our tubes with a larger diameter and with soft mandrel bent bends to improve performance. The lower tube is 60mm (2 3/8") and the upper tube is 76mm (3"), these effectively reduce pressure drop and reduce turbulence.

Our upper pressure pipe, which connects to the throttle body with its CNC-milled flange, has two 1/8 NPT sockets suitable for methanol injection or as a socket for e.g. a boost pressure gauge. We include two 1/8 NPT plugs for those who choose not to use these ports.

Important Information

The space for the charge pipe between the throttle body and the "slam panel" (the sheet metal part that is placed over the radiators) is very limited on the G-chassis platform. In some cases it may be necessary to grind the edge of this "slam panel" a few millimeters to allow more space for the do88 charging tube.

  • CNC machined sockets for MAP sensor, turbo and throttle body connections.
  • CNC machined (2x) 1/8 NPT sockets, perfect for methanol injection or as a socket for example boost pressure gauge.
  • Two 1/8 NPT plugs are included if you do not use the sockets.
  • Mandrel bent 60mm (2 3/8") and 76mm (3") pressure tubes painted with a nice matte black powder coat.
  • Fits together with the engine cover (which some competitors pressure pipes do not).
  • Includes all parts and assembly instructions for easy assembly.
